Art Review: Claudio Parmiggiani at the Estorick Collection – A journey through smoke, silence and memory

ART EXHIBITION Claudio Parmiggiani at estorick collection 27-5-2025

If you’re looking for a cultural moment to feed your mind and soul, Claudio Parmiggiani’s powerful new exhibition at the Estorick Collection of Modern Italian Art in Highbury & Islington in collaboration with the Consulate General of Italy in London is a must-see – and, yes, even for busy mums needing a quiet moment of introspection.

Italian artist Claudio Parmiggiani (b. 1943), one of Italy’s leading contemporary voices, finally receives his first UK museum show — and it’s a deeply moving, thought-provoking experience. You won’t find bright colours or traditional portraits here. Instead, Parmiggiani invites you into a world of smoke, shadow and absence — a space where what’s missing speaks volumes.

Gig review: Marco Ligabue at The Troubadour London – Rock history meets Italian soul in an electrifying debut performance

May 07 2025

London’s legendary Troubadour, a venue where the echoes of Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, and Paul Simon still seem to hum through the wooden beams, welcomed a new addition to its storied musical lineage on 6 May 2025: Marco Ligabue. In doing so, Ligabue became the first Italian artist to ever grace this sacred stage. And what a debut it was – an evening brimming with passion, cultural fusion, and raw rock energy that had the crowd on its feet and singing their hearts out.

This was no ordinary gig, nor was it the standard trajectory of a rock interview that led me here. I’ve been following Marco’s journey since early March, when he arrived in London to shoot the video for his latest single, Le Canzoni Inglesi, alongside the award-winning filmmaker Fabio Fasulo. I had the privilege of accompanying them through London’s nooks and crannies – finding just the right backdrops to capture the essence of a song born from an Italo-British love story, with my friends of Complitaly TV. Our days were intense, musical, and utterly joyful. My long and revealing interview with Marco, coming soon on all platforms, sprang from those days spent chasing the perfect atmosphere. That same spirit ran through the busking at Southbank the day before and the entire concert at the Troubadour.
