A parent’s guide to what’s inside the dentist’s office

Oct 14 2025
family dentist

Making sure your child feels calm and comfortable walking into the dentist’s office truly matters, especially when you want to make sure they don’t develop a phobia. One of the keys to success here is to know what to expect, and making sure that you, the parent, are well-versed in what lies behind the door can make all the difference. If your little one knows that you know what is going on and that you are in control, they will be so much more relaxed and care-free about the experience.

With this in mind, we’ve created a handy little guide for every London mum who wants to be prepared the smart way.

How to blend modern design with period features in a family home

Oct 13 2025
Blend Modern Design with Period Features in a Family Home

There’s a quiet kind of magic in homes that balance the old and the new. The high ceilings, decorative cornices, and worn wooden floors whisper stories of another time — while sleek lines, calm palettes, and modern materials remind you that life moves forward. Blending modern design with period features isn’t about erasing the past; it’s about allowing both worlds to coexist beautifully. Even small touches, such as paintable brass plates for switches & outlets, can bridge eras seamlessly, adding polish without overpowering character. In this article, we’ll look at how to achieve that balance — so your family home feels cohesive, functional, and timelessly elegant.

Gig review: “Imagine Lennon” at Boisdale Canary Wharf – A night of peace, power and pure Lennon magic

Oct 12 2025
Tyson Kelly as John Lennon at Boisdale London

There are tribute shows, and then there is Imagine Lennon — the closest thing to having John Lennon himself step back onto a London stage in 2025. Starring Tyson Kelly, the internationally acclaimed musician and actor who has portrayed Lennon across the world from Let It Be on Broadway to The Bootleg Beatles, this show at Boisdale Canary Wharf was a interactive and engaging journey through Lennon’s life and music.

Three days after what would have been John’s 85th birthday, the sold-out London show felt charged with emotion. Tyson didn’t just imitate Lennon — he became him, channelling the voice, wit, and vulnerable spirit that defined one of rock’s most complex icons. Backed by his superb four-piece band from Leeds, Kelly guided the audience through a seamless mix of Beatles classics and Lennon’s solo gems.

Is it negative to live each day with “What if there was no tomorrow?”

Is it negative to live each day with “What if there was no tomorrow?”. I don’t think so.  It is easier to focus on living in the present moment.  You have a greater appreciation for the day.  You also have a moment to think about your current lifestyle.  What do you like about it, what do you want to change, what would you do or not do if there were no tomorrow”?

Beating the crowds at London’s most popular family attractions

Oct 10 2025
Tower of London mums magazine reporters

London’s most iconic landmarks attract millions of visitors each year, creating queues that can test even the most patient parent’s resolve. The Tower of London, with its thousand-year history and dazzling Crown Jewels, ranks among the capital’s busiest attractions. This is especially common during school holidays when families arrive in large numbers.

Navigating historic sites with children requires strategy, especially when little ones have limited patience for lengthy queues and crowded spaces. Many parents find themselves rushing through exhibits, missing the fascinating stories behind ancient walls and royal treasures. The experience often becomes more about crowd management than meaningful discovery.
