Talking Pictures: Julianne Moore on Freeheld

An Oscar winner graces The Big Interview hot seat in the new edition of Talking Pictures. Julianne Moore (above), who won Best Actress last year for Still Alice, talks about her latest film, Freeheld. Released in cinemas and online on Friday, 19 February, it’s based on the true story about an equal rights campaign that changed American law.

London Mums’ resident film critic, Freda Cooper, also takes a look at new release Chronic, which stars Tim Roth as a dedicated home care nurse. And, on DVD, Ben Foster plays the disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong in The Program.

The latest edition of Talking Pictures podcast has arrived!  And London Mums’ very own Monica Costa makes her debut on the show, chatting with Freda about the big family films coming up this summer. New releases at the cinema this week include Ted 2, which is strictly for grown-ups, and Dustin Hoffman in The Choir. On DVD there’s Julianne Moore’s Oscar winning performance in Still Alice and something for the petrol heads in the family, Lauda:The Untold Story.

Film Review: Still Alice

The winner of this year’s Oscar for Best Actress had been predicted for months – Julianne Moore in Still Alice.  The performance had come in for plenty of praise, but there was also a general feeling that it was about time that Moore got the trophy.  It was her fifth nomination, after all.

But an Oscar-winning performance isn’t always set within an Oscar-winning film.  London Mums film critic, Freda Cooper, checks out the film which opens this Friday, 6 March, certificate 12A, to find out if it’s worthy of its star turn.

After all the build-up, the main event is nearly here.  The Oscars will be handed out in the early hours of Monday morning and, with the votes well and truly in, the only thing left to do now is speculate.
