At the 1988 Winter Olympics, Britain found a new sporting hero. He was the one-man ski jumping team, he’d qualified for the competition by the skin of his teeth and he didn’t win a medal. In fact, he was permanently in last place. But everybody came under the energetic spell of Eddie Edwards. Nearly 30 years later, he’s inspired a big screen version of his story, which flies into cinemas on Friday, 1 April 2016. No joke! London Mums’ resident film critic, Freda Cooper, finds out if Eddie The Eagle lands on its feet.

Noticed Paddington Bears springing up around London over the past few weeks? Over fifty of them are there until the end of December and for a reason. Firstly, they’re a fund raiser for the NSPCC and, in their various guises – a coat decorated with oranges and a space suit are just two – they also herald the cinematic arrival of the nation’s favourite bear from Darkest Peru. Paddington.

Before I take a look at Get Santa, a warm welcome to Chiara, my fellow film partner in crime. I hope you enjoyed her review of the film and that mine lives up to her standard.
It has to be said that this year’s seasonal films didn’t get off to the best of starts with Nativity 3 – and that’s the last time I’m going to mention that particular travesty. So, is Get Santa any better?
