Film Review: Money Monster

Hollywood royalty is out in force in cinemas.  Meryl Streep arrived as Florence Foster Jenkins at the start of the month, last week Tom Hanks was in the Arabian desert to deliver A Hologram For The King and now no less than George Clooney and Julia Roberts confront a hostage-taker in this week’s Money Monster (released this Friday, 27 May, certificate 15).

Film review: Unbroken

For Americans, Louis Zamperini was a hero for many reasons. An athlete at the Berlin Olympics, he went on to serve in the air force during World War II, was shot down over the Pacific, survived in an open life raft only to be captured by the Japanese and subjected to a brutal regime in a POW camp.  Yet he endured it all, returning to Japan in his later years on a mission of forgiveness and reconciliation.

He’s not so well known in this country – until now, that is, with the release of Angelina Jolie’s second film as a director, Unbroken.
