You wait years for a film about a woman who couldn’t sing in tune and then, just like London buses, two come along almost simultaneously. French offering, Marguerite, opened around six weeks ago and was based on the story of Florence Foster Jenkins. Now the movie bearing her name arrives in cinemas this Friday, 8 May, certificate 12A.

Yes, it really is that long since we fell for Hugh Grant’s floppy-haired charm and blubbed as John Hannah read Stop All The Clocks in Four Weddings And A Funeral.
