Top Five Films Of 2015

It’s tradition. Turkey, pudding – and a look back at the best films of the year. And who am I to do otherwise?

For my top five this year, I’ve set two rules. I’m only choosing from films that have been released in UK cinemas during 2015 (so, for instance, the ones I saw at the London Film Festival but which haven’t been given a general distribution aren’t in contention) and I’m only including movies which I’ve reviewed for London Mums.

Cate Blanchett interviewed on Talking Pictures

Weeks don’t get much bigger at the cinema!  There’s a deluge of great new releases this week and, if you can’t decide what to see, then let Talking Pictures do it for you.

There’s romantic drama, Carol: its star, Cate Blanchett, is the subject of this week’s Big Interview.  Johnny Depp abandons Captain Jack Sparrow to play real-life gangster, Whitey Bulger, in Black Mass.  The epic Doctor Zhivago is back in cinemas to celebrate its 50th anniversary re-release and, finally, Disney Pixar’s “dinosaur western”, The Good Dinosaur, rides into town.

Film Review: The Good Dinosaur

It’s a Disney-Pixar double bill this week.  Inside Out was released on DVD on Monday and Friday sees the arrival in cinemas of the studio’s latest animation, The Good Dinosaur, certificate PG.  London Mums’ film critic, Freda Cooper, checks out a film that’s light years from prehistoric.

Film Review: Disney Pixar’s Inside Out

It’s not many animations that are shown at the Cannes Film Festival, and even fewer that receive a ten minute standing ovation. But this week’s big new release, Disney Pixar’s Inside Out, ticks both boxes and has been a box office hit in the States. So will it wow us Brits as well when it opens this Friday, certificate U? London Mums’ film critic, Freda Cooper, gets to know Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust.
