While the temperatures dropped on the BAFTA red carpet last night and the stars took refuge in their coats and capes, inside the Royal Opera House the temperature was even chillier for the film that was left out in the cold.

The 2016 awards season seems to have been going on for ever, but the end is in sight. The Oscars take place at the end of the month, but first come the BAFTAs, on Sunday evening. Film Review: Brooklyn

November looks like being nostalgia month.  There’s re-issues of weepies Brief Encounter and Doctor Zhivago, as well as new arrivals The Dressmaker and Bridge Of Spies, but ahead of them all comes the adaptation of Colm Toibin’s best seller, Brooklyn.  London Mums’ resident film critic, Freda Cooper, took the journey to see how well it made the leap from page to screen.
