Movie goers will be delighted to know that Sky Cinema will bring viewers in the UK and Ireland exclusive coverage of the 90th Oscars® on a dedicated channel that will also feature over 100 past winners.
Available in the collection of films on Sky Cinema Oscars® are some of the best movies to have taken home statues over the years, including Best Picture winners Forrest Gump (1994), The Sound of Music (1965) and more.
The channel will also feature Oscar-winning family favourites such as Zootropolis (2016), The Incredibles (2004), Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937), and the live-action remake of The Jungle Book (2016).
Sky Cinema also offers viewers the chance to see some of this year’s nominees On Demand – including Best Picture nominee Get Out (2017) and Disney’s live-action Beauty and the Beast (2017).
Coverage of this year’s awards ceremony – the landmark 90th Academy Awards – will arrive on Sunday 4 March on the dedicated Oscars channel. Alex Zane will host Sky’s coverage on the night alongside Rachel Riley, Sanjeev Bhaskar and Boyd Hilton, who will add their expertise.
Contenders include the Frances McDormand-led Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, Greta Gerwig’s Lady Bird, Guillermo Del Toro’s The Shape of Water, Jordan Peele’s Get Out, wartime drama The Darkest Hour and Paul Thomas Anderson’s Phantom Thread, starring Daniel Day-Lewis.
Find out who will take home the top prizes this year on Sky Cinema Oscars, beginning with Oscars 2018: Red Carpet at midnight on 4 March on Sky Cinema Oscars, before the 90th Annual Academy Awards ceremony begins at 1.00am on Monday 5 March.
If that’s all a bit late into the night, fear not – Sky Cinema will have a full rerun of events from the Dolby Theatre at 8am the following morning, with two-hour highlights scheduled at 8pm later on Monday 5 March, both also on the dedicated Oscars channel.
Ahead of the ceremony, you can also relive some of most famous Oscars moments in a special programme called The Oscars: Greatest Shocks, Frocks and Fairytales. Featuring some of the most memorable Oscars highlights, it will run directly in the build-up to Sky’s coverage at 11pm on Sunday 4 March on Sky One and Sky Cinema Oscars.
Sky Cinema Oscars is the latest dedicated channel from Sky Cinema and forms part of a stellar 2018 on the service. Beginning on Friday 2 March with the release of family animation Monster Family – which follows the story of the Wishbone family and stars the voices of Catherine Tate, Jason Isaacs and others – viewers can enjoy Sky Cinema Original Films, released on the same day in cinemas and on Sky Cinema, adding to an offering of a brand new premiere every day, and a range of dedicated collections.
