Live action Disney’s Beauty and the Beast is one of the best films we have ever seen since the release of live action Cinderella a few years ago. A truly PERFECT family film! It is the perfect live-action re-telling of the studio’s animated classic which refashions the classic characters from the tale as old as time for a contemporary audience, staying true to the original music while updating the score with several new songs.
The story
As everybody probably remembers, Beauty and the Beast is the fantastic journey of Belle, a bright, beautiful and independent young woman who is taken prisoner by a beast in his castle.
Despite her fears, she befriends the castle’s enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the Beast’s hideous exterior and realize the kind heart and soul of the true Prince within.
The stellar cast includes Emma Watson as Belle, Dan Stevens as the Beast, Luke Evans as Gaston, the handsome, but shallow villager who woos Belle, Oscar® winner Kevin Kline as Maurice, Belle’s eccentric, but lovable father, Josh Gad as Lefou, Gaston’s long-suffering aide-de-camp, Golden Globe® nominee Ewan McGregor as Lumiere, the candelabra, Oscar nominee Stanley Tucci as Maestro Cadenza, the harpsichord, Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Plumette, the feather duster; six-time Tony Award® winner Audra McDonald as Madame Garderobe, the wardrobe, Oscar nominee Ian McKellen as Cogsworth, the mantel clock, and two-time Academy Award® winner Emma Thompson as the teapot, Mrs. Potts.

The verdict
The most perfect family film since live action Cinderella a few years ago!
There’s nothing I disliked about this movie. The actors were very well chosen for the parts and looking like the original ones from the animation we loved. The music was familiar but a few new songs were created for this particular film as well as some contemporary themes such as the acceptance of gay couples which I personally loved. Kids have no problem with this until they come across adults’ prejudices so the reference to gay’s love was added in a very tasteful and humorous way.
The costumes were stunning and the use of CGI (computer generated images) was done so well that you would not notice when special effects were incorporated.
Ewan McGregor as Lumiere was simply exquisite and certainly my favourite character in this movie.
Once again, Disney has not disappointed the fans of this classic story, but has gone above and beyond expectations. No matter what Hollywood will come up during 2017 throughout the rest of this year, Beauty and the Beast is the family film to beat in 2017.

Beauty and the Beast Enchanting Melodies Belle by Hasbro
RRP £33.99 (Available in all good retailers)
Enchanting Melodies Belle has to be my absolute favourite doll for 2017. When you press her stomach, the Belle doll sings Something There from Disney’s live-action Beauty and the Beast film.
She comes dressed in the golden gown inspired by the movie and also a removable necklace. The doll is so realistically made she resembles Emma Watson is this image from the film.
Beauty and the Beast Film Mug

I love having my cup of tea in the morning in this gorgeous Beauty and the Beast mug. It always remind me of one of my favourite films ever. As you can see from the images it features intricate designs and vibrant wraparound character artwork.
There are so many other home accessories at the Disney Store that you can buy and look exactly like the characters from the movie like Lumiere, Mrs. Potts & Chip.
Beauty and the Beast Write, Inspire, Create Book by Parragon Books
RRP £5.99
Stockist: Available in all good retailers
This activity book inspires children to get creative and provides some inspiration on how to write Belle’s diary for a week, create a new song for the enchanted objects to sing and even imagine a brand-new beginning to the story. It allows children to think outside of the box and think of the mysterious and magical world of Beauty and the Beast.
Beauty and the Beast Journal
RRP £14.99
Stockist: Disney Store and Disneystore.co.uk
This lockable notebook resembles Belle’s journal from the live-action film. Its lined pages come alive with gold foil edges, the cover is exquisitely detailed and there is a tassel place saver. It’s big and has lots of pages. I suppose it is suitable for life family memoirs.
