Breakfast In Bed hamperr Mother’s Day Gift Guide 2023

London Mums’ favourite hamper for a cosy breakfast in bed has to be the one by luxury gift brand Cartwright & Butler (£55.00). Go big or go home. Their oat biscuits and coffee leave you with a lovely taste in your mouth. Shame that my son ‘kidnapped’ most of the cookies from the hamper. We made delicious toast with the marmelade like Paddington bear and strawberry jam. The prosecco is also luxurious (not the supermarket type).

Budget-friendly ways to treat mum this Mother’s day

Get crafty

Nothing says ‘I love you’ like getting your hands mucky and creating something handmade and personalised for mum. Whether that be a simple card, a personalised keyring or charm or a piece of art. The possibilities really are endless, just have a think about what mum would like the most (and what is best suited to your personal craft skill levels). TikTok has some great, easily digestible craft ideas for you to follow, so just head over to your local store for any of the essentials you think you might need.

Remember – whatever you make doesn’t have to be perfect, it will be special because of the time and effort you put into creating it.

Create an experience

If mum loves an experience, consider setting one up for her at home. You could create something simple like a scavenger hunt out of notes on why you love mum so much, or set-up something to get her thinking – like an at-home escape room in her favourite theme.

The best part of gifting mum and experience is that it’s something you are able to enjoy together – and there really is no better gift than that!

Bake up a storm

Of course, one easy way to treat mum is to get into the kitchen and get creative with cooking. Whether mum prefers a sweet treat or a savoury meal, make sure to cook up something out of the ordinary that she’ll really enjoy.

London Mums' ultimate Mother’s Day Gift Guide 2023 perfume laura biagiotti foreverPerfume is the repository of memories: its evocative power brings moments and people to mind.

Laura Biagiotti Forever is a perfume that seizes the moment and makes it infinite. It celebrates the love of women: infinite and boundless by definition. The bottle of FOREVER vertically reproduces the infinity symbol, shaped like an eight lying on its side. It is based upon the precious swirls of a metal ribbon that forms the cap on the top and embraces the crystal bottle on the bottom. Its top notes include Bergamot, Blackcurrant, Pear Accord, Apple Accord. Its heart notes remind us of Rose, Lily of the Valley, Violet, Praline, Tuberos and the base note is Vanilla, Musk, Tonka. COFFEE coffee mother's day gift

Fresh ground coffee is an ideal pick me up for a Mother’s Day’s Gift!

Löfbergs – a Swedish coffee company – has created a new luxury blend – the Fika Dark Roast Ground Coffee – at a reasonable price and available from Tesco (RRP: £5.00). A soft and delicate dark roasted coffee that emphasises the fine notes of cocoa in its long aftertaste. Made with 100% Arabica coffee from South and Central America and East Africa. This is the perfect coffee to catch up over. I LOVE the pink packaging and I guess it’ll be a hit for girls too! Little curiosity: Fika translates to “Coffee” in Swedish, and is the practice of reconnecting with others by making time in your day to stop and catch up over a hot coffee and delicious snacks. In Italian, however, has a naughty meaning and sometimes translates as ‘hot girl’. You decide! (giggles)

Premium Tea

A relaxing tea moment can help mums find the peace and calm in their busy lives. Pukka Herbs tea has created a lovely new gifting range full of organic and delicious herbal tea. My favourite one is Pukka Favourites Selection Box (RRP £19.39), a self-care gift in a recyclable box containing 45 sachets of organic herbal teas, with flavours for every occasion including Love, Three Ginger, Turmeric Gold, Feel New, Peppermint & Liquorice and their best selling Night Time Tea.

Red Velvet Tea (from £6.35) birdandblendtea.com

Red Velvet Tea is a Bird & Blend’s rich tea with luxurious Sri Lankan black tea, cocoa shells, sweet beetroot slices, Vanilla Pieces, Calendula Petals, Sunflower Petals & pomegranate flowers. Afternoon tea just got fun! It turns pink when you add a splash of milk – Here’s a Pink Red Velvet Latte Recipe. It’s delicious! Even better try it as an iced latte, learn how to cold brew tea.

If you eat some sweets while sipping Red Velvet, the flavour of the candies or chocolate is enhanced.

The nation’s favourite sweet manufacturer, Swizzels, has launched its first ever Chocolate Coin as part of its iconic Love Hearts range. Sisterhoodie fitness clothing sports bra with blonde model

Award-winning female empowerment sportswear brand, MAAREE has my favourite fitness clothing clothing. It’s perfect for any fitness loving mother or runner or people who practise outdoor sport. I personally use the EMAAREE mpower Medium-Impact Sports Bra (£49) and hoodie Sisterhoodie (£79) when I do brisk walks in Richmond Park. The Empower sports bra is made from sustainable Econyl fabric and features a special Overband technology to support upward motion to provide breast support. volcanic potpurri and necklace

Boostology has also various gift ideas which really appeal to me. First of all, it is a London based independent business, which plants one tree for every order placed and delivers in plastic free parcels. This gets brownie points from me. The volcanic made products are really unique. For example, this Volcanic Potpourri (£39) which now sits on my desk is made of Lava & Obsidian stones and diffuse essential oils into my workspace, naturally. The box includes one bottle from a choice of essential oil blends (“Unwind”, “Sunshine” & “Bloom”). Their Hamsa Aromatherapy Necklace (£39) is also something I never came across before. It is a stylish and pretty necklace also made of volcanic  rock that diffuses essential oils to you throughout the day. It’s actually made from natural Lava & a 14K gold plated hamsa charm – a symbol of protection. The sweet box includes a bottle of Lavender, Bergamot & Ylang Ylang essential oil blend to uplift.

FASHION

Sherpa Padma Wrap Dress

Whether you’re looking for a simple throw-on for lazy days this Spring or an outfit for your next big hike, this new Sherpa Padma Wrap Dress (£65) is a versatile staple. Light, stylish and simple, it’s beautifully composed of a soft drape cotton fabric for an effortless fit and a light and breezy feel. It feels really soft on the skin. It might be because of the Modal fabric component.

Spring dress

Modal fabric is a semi-synthetic fabric made from beech tree pulp that is used primarily for clothing, such as underwear and pyjamas, and household items, like bed sheets and towels. Modal is a form of rayon, another plant-based textile, though it is slightly more durable and flexible than the standard version. Some call it a sustainable textile and others worry that its popularity is a result of green-washing.

The Padma dress is faux-wrap design together with the detailed forward set shoulder seam and easy closure offers a feminine silhouette and perfect coverage. Finished with a handy secure pocket woven onto the zip that makes an ideal space for keys and mobile on the go. Strikingly simple and bold, this piece is a timeless classic. I love the fact  that Padma translates to “lotus” in Hindi and is often used as an example of divine beauty and purity.

The Florence Breastfeeding Friendly Smock Dress (£ 39.99) and the matching mini Florence dress for the Baby/Child (£14.99)

The Florence Breastfeeding Friendly Smock Dress fashion

Nursing dresses have never looked so stylish! Juno Jacks  has created the sweetest breastfeeding-friendly smock dress for both the mum and the daughter. The dress is called The Florence and is available in a stylish polka or floral print design, and six stunning colourways, it features Juno Jack’s unique registered TwinZip nursing design. The hidden double-ended zips open both ways as much (or as little!) as needed, for comfortable and discreet breastfeeding wherever the occasion calls for it.

This gorgeous nursing smock dress has handy pockets, an elasticated waist and tiered skirt to give a flattering, floaty fit. A comfortable and fashionable style that’s no longer impossible to breastfeed in. I wish I had this when I breastfed my son in public almost 16 years ago.

You can team the Florence with sandals, sunglasses and a belt for an effortless summer look, or a black leather jacket and ankle boots for the colder seasons.

Wedge Sandals

white wedge sandals

Gabor Java Women’s Wedge Sandals (£95.00) in white are the sandals I have chosen to pair with the above dresses for everyday wear. They are very comfortable. The Nubuck leather is soft and adapting to the feet. These Gabor Java wedge sandals are perfect for day or night wear in late Spring and Summer. They feature soft uppers with platform wedge sole for added height to any look. The wide strap detailing and buckle fastening is very handy and easy to put on and off. They are designed with Gabor’s Best Fitting technology, which makes them ideal for those who experience discomfort when wearing shoes all day.

Other ideas to make a mum happy

Ask family members and special friends, young and old, to help create a memory box by making something that shows how they feel about the special person.  So, if you’re the family artist, paint a picture, or if poetry is your thing, write something that captures a special moment or memory, get children and grandchildren involved with crafts, making handprints, taking photos of the session with them. This is the sort of gift that will last a lifetime.

Cooking for mum

As mums are the most involved in making family meals so it would be nice to arrange a family baking or cooking session together – either in person or online or a combination.  Food really can be the way to someone’s heart and as we all spend more time than ever watching cooking themed shows, what better way to celebrate together than creating a delicious treat or meal.  Those far away can take part through video call so you can create a celebratory and truly memorable event across the miles too.

Me time for new hobbies

Sometimes time is the best gift you can give someone. Sign you and your loved one up for a class (online or real life) that you’d both enjoy – flower arranging, cooking, coasteering, crafting, paddle boarding, dancing – whatever you and your mum are into.

The gift of time

Spend time together volunteering at an event or for a local charity.  Sometimes doing things for other people can be the best bonding experience you can have together and can create a special moment for you both.  It’s also a great way to give something back to your local community or to a special cause.

Gardening projects

Tackle a home or garden project together, a job or task that has been on her to do list forever.  Sometimes taking worry or responsibility away from the ones we love can be the best gift of all.  If it’s gardening take the tools, a plan and also a picnic lunch to make it more of an occasion.  If it’s a home decorating task bring style ideas or a mood board and go spend the day creating a plan and completing the task together.

Mother’s Day is a special occasion that deserves a thoughtful and meaningful gift. Whether it’s a personalised piece of jewellery, a spa day, a virtual book club membership, arty activities or a donation to a charity, the gift ideas mentioned above will surely make your mother feel loved, appreciated, and special on this special day.
