Despite loving the technology and the new ways of reading books via tablets, we still love reading stories to our kids by turning pages. There’s no question about it. Here is London Mums’ selection of top first children’s books for 2013.
My First Touch and Trace: First ABC
Great interactive first ABC text for little people that enables toddlers to use fingers to follow the shape of the letters as well as babies to familiarise themselves with the letters. The book is very solid so it won’t wear easily. Each page of this interactive book incorporates large, grooved letters, complete with directional arrows, for children to finger-trace. Practise the correct formation before lifting the flap to discover what lies underneath. Age: 0+ 4+
Format: Novelty book
Price: £5.99
My First Book of Words: 100 First Animals
With 100 engaging and colourful photographs, this thematically arranged board book is the perfect introduction to the animal kingdom, developing vocabulary and word-picture association in the very young. Excellent hard book that all babies and toddlers will love particularly for its ‘lift-the-flap’ feature.
Format: Hardback
Age: 0+ 3+ Price: £7.99
My First Lift and Learn: First Numbers
This simple lift-the-flap numbers book works hard to support your child’s development. Most importantly, it makes learning fun. It’s a great way to introduce ‘maths’ to babies 🙂 Age:
0+ 3+ – Format: Novelty book
