Skiing with young children may seem a daunting prospect, but don’t be put off. Families who take the plunge say a ski holiday can be a huge success.

The key is to follow three basic rules:

• Make sure your resort is only a short distance from the airport

• Choose a resort that’s family friendly

• Make sure you arrange good quality childcare if your children are too young to ski all day

Ski Famille was started 21 years ago with these three rules at the heart of the concept. Ski Famille Managing Director Chris Thompson knows they remain as relevant as ever; “We still hear far too many stories of people enduring four hour transfers from the airport – and when they’ve got to their resort the children get bored and parents aren’t skiing anywhere near as often as they thought they would.’ It doesn’t have to be like that. Ski Famille has 11 high quality catered chalets all of which include in-house childcare. From day one Ski Famille avoided large impersonal centralized crèches and instead creates a cozy home from home environment that is relaxing for both parents and children. The childcare team focuses on, in Chris’ words, “Entertaining, amusing and tiring out” children from just a few months up to 12 years old.

As well as being in family friendly locations, Ski Famille’s chalets also offer easy access to world class skiing. Chalets are located either next to or very close to the slopes in picturesque Les Gets and high altitude Reberty Village (Les Menuires, 3 Valleys). Both ski areas offer variety and challenges for snow sports enthusiasts of all standards.
