The Independent Schools Show Summer Fair is back. Mark your diary! 10 May 2022, The Hurlingham Club, London

Finding the right school for your children is a very stressful process for us parents. Have you ever considered a private senior school for your child but not sure how to start the process? The Independent Schools Show (ISS) Summer Fair is the complete guide to 11+ and 13+ options designed especially for London parents.

The ISS Summer Fair takes place at The Hurlingham Club, London on Tuesday 10th May 2022. It’s a full day packed with talks, workshops, academic assessments and 1-1 meetings with admissions staff and registrars. It is aimed at helping you, as a parent, navigate the world’s most competitive school system, find the right school for your child, prepare for entry tests and work out what to do next.

You might be preparing your child for a London day school, weighing up boarding schools, considering keeping your child at their current 4-16 / 4-18 school or you might just be unsure of your options. This is where our Summer Fair comes in to help you reflect on school choices, shortlist the schools most suited to your child and plan how you will prepare your child for admissions tests and interviews.

ISS has partnered with Atom Learning to provide an online ‘Baseline Assessment Test’ which your child takes at home prior to the Summer Fair, where they will collect their results. Their online ‘Baseline Assessment Test’ is designed to mirror the actual 11+/13+ exams and it is free for the children of families attending the Summer Fair. Experts from Bonas MacFarlane and Atom Learning will be on hand on the day to help interpreting the test results and building a plan to sharpen your child’s performance.

Are you undecided as to whether your child will thrive at an independent school? The Director of Admissions at St Paul’s School and the Headmistress of Putney High School will be discussing this and other related questions in the first talk of the day. Another talk slightly later on in the day will be focused around the question ‘Will my child suit senior boarding?’. This will be led by the Head of Bedales, Headmaster of Sherborne Schools and the Headmaster of Lancing College.

Are you worried about the SEN department at an independent school? Be sure to attend the afternoon talk led by the Headteacher of Abingdon House School and College and the Headmaster of The Moat School as they talk through the differences between SEN specialists and schools with a strong SEN department.

Other talks at the fair will address topics such as the pre-tests, affordability and transitioning your child from a state primary school to an independent school. Scroll down on the fair’s website here to check out the full talks programme.

New to this year’s show, each talk will be followed by a reception, where you can talk to other parents, the speakers and other experts about your child’s needs. Get a head start in planning your child’s future and register for the ISS Summer Fair today.
