2022 RECRUITMENT OF CONSUMER ADVOCATES

Looking for a new challenge that could fit around your existing commitments? Join CCW as a Consumer Advocate to play a leading role in shaping the water industry for the benefit of everyone who uses water across England and Wales.

CCW is recruiting three Consumer Advocates to help us champion the interests of people in your local area by influencing water companies, governments and regulators.

As the independent voice for water consumers in England and Wales, we help thousands of people resolve complaints against their water company, while providing free advice and support.

 

We are currently recruiting two new Consumer Advocates for London and one for Central & Eastern England. Consumer Advocates help to ensure that all local water and sewerage customers receive a good quality and efficient service at a fair price, now and in the future.

Consumer Advocates are expected to devote time equivalent to at least 30 hours a month to their duties, and will receive a fee of £4,510 per annum. This time can be made up of several part days or full days, depending on the work requirements.  Travel and certain other expenses will be reimbursed. 

Ideally, you should receive water services from a company within the area we are recruiting to. A map and list of companies in each region is contained within the information pack. We encourage all applicants, but particularly welcome applications from individuals with inquisitive minds, happy to work on their own initiative and as part of a team. You should have excellent communication skills and be comfortable  communicating at different levels. You should be capable of identifying and informing stakeholders on key messages arising from your work.  We welcome applications from all communities and underrepresented groups.

You should have experience of working within a team to deliver to a pre-defined goal. You will have sound judgement and the ability to extract salient points from complex data, all the time appreciating issues from the consumer’s point of view. Knowledge of the water industry is desirable but is not essential, along with an understanding of how a regulated business should engage with stakeholders and customers.
