I am proud of one of our favourite London Mums, Maggy W., mum of two, artist, blogger and amazing creator of artwork with kids and for kids. She has just won two awards for her Red Ted Art website: Best MAD Craft Blog and Best Pre-School Fun MAD Blog. I am very proud of her! The MAD Blog Awards is the UK’s largest independent awards programme for Mummy and Daddy bloggers. It is organised by Flea Enterprises Ltd, publishers of the of Tots100 Index of British Mummy and Daddy bloggers, the UK’s largest community of active parent blogs.
Around 100 of the country’s best-loved parent bloggers came together to find out the winners of the MAD Blog Awards. Fourteen winners were chosen by a public vote. More than 50,000 nominations and votes were submitted in this year’s awards, but just 75 blogs made it through to the finals.
This is what Maggy told us after winning the awards:
“I love getting people to have a go and get crafty. Crafts is something everyone can do, it doesn’t have to be complicated or messy and you don’t need a lot of “stuff”. On Red Ted Art, I try to make things fun and easy! It is always about having a go and not the end result. Children just love getting creative and spending time with their carers”
“ I was very chuffed to win “Best Craft Blog” of the year, as that is “what I do”. I was then rather surprised, but equally excited to also win “Best Preschool Blog” of the year. I guess because my children are still young, there is a great section of activities for that age group. However, many of crafts are for all age groups – weekly “Kids Get Crafty” is aimed at 2-10yrs olds (you just help more or less) and the weekly “How tos” are aimed at Teens to Adults.”
“Writing the blog has made me more creative. I have been in touch with so many other fantastic crafters and bloggers who have all been a massive inspiration to me. Because of them and my site, I have learnt new craft skills myself (crocheting and quilling!!!) and I am always keen to try new things!”
“The success of my site would not have been possible without the support and enthusiasm of my fabulous family – they have all taken a keen interest, have supported the time I spend on it and have seen the value it brings to the activities I do with my children. I have also been hugely supported by the other blogging parents and have a lot of lovely supporters all over the world. Thank you SO MUCH for reading my blog, for coming back to read some more, for spreading the word about me, for supporting me and of course for voting for me!”
