Pregnancy is one of the best things that can happen to a woman. Watching a tiny version of yourself sleeping soundly in your arms (or making a fuss about a jar of candies) fills you with so much warmth and love inside. But, the child-bearing journey isn’t easy.
A woman’s body goes through a significant transformation during pregnancy. The expanding belly, weight gain, and breast enlargement are only a few physical examples. What’s worse, her pre-pregnancy body is lost forever as she turns into a mother.
Do not worry if the fact stresses you out. Modern technology has a solution for almost everything, and it allows you to get your pre-pregnancy body back via a mummy makeover. It may cost you a lot, but the immediate results are worth it.
To help you understand it better, we have dedicated this post to explaining what a mummy makeover is. We’ve also discussed the recovery process, associated costs, and other details. So, without further ado, let’s dive in!
What is a mummy makeover?
A mummy makeover refers to a series of procedures that help reverse the physical changes caused by pregnancy. It can be surgical, non-surgical, or a combination of both. The selection depends on a woman’s individual desires and health condition.
Most people choose procedures that address the main affected areas, like abdominoplasty and breast augmentation. Some clinics may even offer diet and exercise plans for holistic treatment.
With that being said, it’s best to attend a consultation session with an expert before making the decision. Mummy makeovers aren’t suitable for all women. Some mothers do not have the required stable weight or sufficient muscle buildup to undergo surgeries.
What does a mummy makeover include?
A mummy makeover is different for different women. However, there are a few commonly performed procedures. These include:
- Tummy tuck
The expanding belly during pregnancy leaves mothers with saggy and loose skin in the abdomen. In addition, bulges of additional fat develop as a result of muscle separation. These changes make the body appear unsightly.
A tummy tuck helps you deal with this situation. It refers to the removal of extra fat and skin around the abdominal areas. Also called an abdominoplasty, it can help you achieve a thinner and smoother figure.
- Liposuction
Liposuction goes along with tummy tuck and helps tone the body further. It’s used to reduce fat from body parts like thighs, hips, and arms. Since chin fat is also a common issue amongst new mothers, liposuction can be used for that as well.
- Stretch mark removal
Almost 90 percent of women get stretch marks following childbirth. You can fight this problem through a dermaroller or laser skin resurfacing procedure.
A dermaroller procedure involves the use of a microneedle roller to stimulate elastin and collagen in your skin. The stimulation boosts the natural repair and regeneration process that makes the scars less prominent.
On the other hand, laser skin resurfacing uses thermal energy to heat skin tissues and increase collagen production. More collagen means strengthened skin, which ultimately reduces the stretch marks.
- Breast uplift and augmentation
Childbirth causes the breast skin to stretch and sag. It also changes shape and size of the breast once a mother is through the breastfeeding stage. In this case, breast uplift (mastopexy) and augmentation surgery can help.
The uplift includes enlargement or reduction of breast size. Meanwhile, augmentation restores the lost volume. Although most mothers choose both procedures together, you can choose either one after consulting your doctor.
In addition to the procedures described above, some women also opt for non-surgical cosmetic procedures like PLEXR plasma soft surgery. This makes use of plasma energy to lift, tighten, and rejuvenate the eye region. You can also call it non-invasive eyelid surgery.
Is a mummy makeover risky?
A mummy makeover includes various surgeries, which makes it a bit risky. Women may experience infections, scarring, bleeding, and mild loss of sensation in the affected body parts after the makeover. However, there’s nothing serious or fatal about it.
Most of these risks vanish after 2 to 3 weeks, provided you do not perform heavy physically active and weight-lifting.
Your surgeon may also recommend a special diet plan to help with recovery and minimize risks. In case of post-surgery scarring, a good surgeon will always inform you about where they may form and how to reduce them.
How much does a mummy makeover cost?
There is no fixed price for mummy makeovers. That’s because the treatment has different surgeries involved, depending on your requirements. You can expect to spend anywhere from £10,000 to £15,000 on a mummy makeover.
