I love fashion and read magazines all the time showing amazing looking girls with perfect bodies displaying outfits I could only dream of, not just from the cost perspective but more importantly because I don’t have that figure and will never have it despite watching out what I eat and keeping fit.
Let’s face it! Normal mums on the go at school runs every day have to wear practical clothes, shoes and accessories. Nothing else would work. Surely we can dress up for parties and special occasions, but these are less frequent as we watch our social life disappear in front of our eyes.
This is why I have decided to get out there on the high street and find decent clothes and accessories for everyday use that still makes me look feminine and decent even during the school runs. Here is London Mums’ Autumn / Winter fashion for mums on the go.

London Mums love this complete outfit by Californian fashion brand Cherokee (exclusively sold at Argos) including Burgundy Coated Jeans, Peplum Chenille Cardigan, long sleeve cosy Blue Top and a super warm Grey Wool Rich Check Coat.
What mums really need is a wardrobe made of basic staples that are going to work no matter what. The basics would include a crisp white shirt, a good pair of trousers (my favourite are from Cherokee sold exclusively from Argos), a really good fitting pair of jeans, comfortable but smart shoes, a Trench Coat (New Look or Primark have some decent ones) and great accessories (anything with a little bit of Shearling on it or fringing this season like a shearling clutch will update your look without buying any other new clothing). When it’s really cold, nothing will keep you warmer than a shearling coat. We started seeing this trend of oversize coats and cropped jackets last Autumn.

Cherokee Women’s Burgundy Coated Jeans RRP £22 – These gorgeous Burgundy Coated Jeans from Cherokee are perfect for throwing on before an active day out with the family. Designed to last, this pair of jeans is perfect for mums on the go.
The latest Autumn / Winter 2015 Fashion shows and magazines are displaying quite diverse looks for this coming season.
Retro revival: 70s and 80s comebacks
This has been a trend for a while now. Continuing this season is the retro 70’s vibe, a little bit of the 60’s but very much 70’s, with the wide leg trousers, flared trousers, cropped culottes. Designers who love the 70s vibe are inspired by Saturday Night Fever and disco fever, which means lots of flares, as well as knits and boho silhouettes. From the 70s the colour brown is coming back too in all its shades from maroon to copper.
From the 80s electric shades are returning in a more sophisticated way and the neons are now paired with grey, navy and camel.
Faux-Fur Stoles

Lee Paton is a British luxury fashion label based between London and Paris – The AW15 collection through its luxurious textures, from cashmere wool and silk velvet to buttery leather and plush fur
This is we see a comeback of feminine and pastel coloured faux-fur stole. Softly leaning over the shoulder add a more modern touch to any clothing.
Puffer Coats
They are not suitable for rounder figures but if you are slim they can be good fun. They come in bold colors, shiny silver, interesting cuts and cool add-ons.
Head-to-Toe Black
Black is a slimming colour and is never passe’ (it will always be a trend as a colour but with new variety of shapes). You make the monochromatic look more fun you can mix patterns and textures.
Winter Cream
Creamier White is this Autumn/Winter’s shade of white. Classic and always on trend. It is less practical during the school run but great for evening occasions.
Chunky Knits
Sometimes a woman just wants to cuddle up in the biggest sweater possible. This season designers are luckily providing tons of options. One of my favourite pieces is this Peplum Chenille Cardigan from Cherokee (a Californian brand sold exclusively at Argos). Whilst peplum detail at the hem gives it a stylish edge, this cardigan is still a practical choice for wearing out in the garden or on country walks with the family. The knit is so soft but doesn’t make you look chunky.
Check Coats
Check Coats are classic and will always be fashionable. My favourite this season is this Grey Wool Rich Check Coat by Cherokee. With a belt to keep the coat tightly closed and a high wool content, this coat is incredibly warm although it does not look thick. I love the fact that you can stay very warm without having a puff coat.
Accessories
There has never been such a variety of handbag trends in the market like this Autumn. They are essential finishing touches to any outfit and sometimes if handbags are particularly eye-catching they serve they distract from our outfit malfunction.
The Top-Handle Satchel
BEA by byStroom is a trendy changing bag, which has feminine details in the braided handles, and the unique shape makes this bag quite special. Aimed at those mums who want a spacious stylish bag that can fit in all baby essentials and a lot more. Yellow is on trend this Autumn/Winter season. What we love about this Danish brand is the choice of material: artificial eco-leather that looks and feels like real leather. This bag is easy to clean with a wet cloth because the material is water and stain resistant. This is an essential feature which I always want from a handbag. School runs and trips to the park can be ‘devastating’ for delicate handbags. Bea is not fragile, in fact it’s very robust and yet elegant. The changing kit contains a nursing sheet, a toilet bag and a bottle holder. Bea can hang on any stroller or pram by the shoulder strap, which is removable and can be adjusted as desired from 64 cm up to 120 cm. Outside there are two zippered pockets which are very handy to insert all sorts of things. The bag measures 45x40x30 cm and is big enough to be used after the baby is diaper free as a weekend bag and beyond it as it is a very pretty fashion bag.
The Elongated Clutch
We have chosen HILMA byStroom as our clutch of choice to represent this season’s trend that sees the elongated clutch as a distinctive accessory for mums on the go. Hilma is a simple and elegant clutch with plenty of room for cards, coins, a phone and more. It is designed to fit 8 credit / supermarket cards, two pockets, one with a zipper and a large compartment. There is a pocket on the back with a zipper too. A removable shoulder strap that can be adjusted from 64 to 118 cm comes with the clutch. HILMA is made of soft artificial leather that is durable and easy to clean with a damp cloth. It measures 22 x 14 cm. What we Danish byStroom is London Mums’ chosen brand for ladies’ accessories this Autumn. The artificial eco-leather looks and feels so real and also very expensive.
