Beautifully simple skincare

Friday 8th March 2013 was International Women’s Day so I took the opportunity to pack the kids off to the grandparents and attend the London Mums Magazine conference at City Hall.

Beautiful young woman

What an all-round lovely day. Firstly, and slightly scarily, I am a person in my own right again – no cherubs pulling at my legs! And as I introduce myself as the beauty blogger for the London Mums magazine I am frequently asked for my beauty tips, skincare and how to get rid of wrinkles.

It seems I am the antithesis of most beauty writers, as I don’t have a long list of expensive products you should use. My Mantra (picked this up from Claire Young, thank you Claire) is Less is more (LSM). Rehydrate (i.e. drink water), Protect (i.e. sunscreen, sunglasses, no smoking), Cleanse (i.e. keep your skin as free from products as possible) – RPC.

A friend only the other night, confirmed the LSM mantra. After purchasing a beautifully expensive, thick moisturizer for her winter skin, she proclaimed “my skin is so bad at the moment”.

Moisturisers, especially thick ones, can block your skin pores and eventually lead to spots. I would be incline to always suggest a light moisturizer that is easily absorbed – this will ensure it does the job its meant to and nothing else. If you find your skin is dry, apply 3 times a day instead of 2 and so forth. Since I changed to the thin formula of Olays Multi-Radiance moisturizer, used sometimes 2x a day, sometimes not at all, my skin has been beautifully clear.
