September 2012 Newsletter

Dear London Mums

A summer like no other is the title of the Mayor of London’s Olympic festival and yes what an extraordinary summer we just had! It might not have been the sunniest ever but the gold medals awarded shone brightly enough to please most people 🙂

Before it all started, I was a bit sceptical about the Olympics and I was almost certain there would be lots of organisational problems. But instead I was absolutely amazed of how everything fell perfectly into place during the Games. I attended four events in total in different venues and travelled at pick times everywhere across the Capital with no transport delays, no queues at the venues and well organised systems to safely checking everyone without delays.

I never attended Olympics before in my lifetime and I have no benchmark but the London Olympics most definitely delivered and went beyond my expectation. The events were all busy and the atmosphere exhilarating filled with friendly people well aware of the fact they were experiencing history.

The colourful branding at the locations made the perfect backdrop for our historical pictures, which we will keep as a lifetime memory. My 6 year old son was super excited and I am sure he will be talking about this for a long time. A bit of an unusually cheesy talk of mine but you would understand what I mean if you have been lucky enough to be there in person.

The Paralympic Games are now offering lots of entertainment and particularly inspiration. I wish I had found tickets to attend any Paralympic event. All fully booked!

What will we be doing without such amazing things next year?! At the thought of it, I am already feeling withdrawal symptoms… What has personally taught me is that sport is great to watch live and in future I will look forward to attend more live sporting events.

Talking about inspirational things, we at London Mums have organised a very special ‘Playgroup with a twist‘ from the end of September 2012 onwards. Mums with young kids as well as teenagers can come along and learn how to draw and paint with a professional artist while young children enjoy exploring the Eddie Catz world (unless they want to also join in our art and craft activities).

And remember, for this playgroup ONLY mums pay! Kids GO FREE!. Spaces are limited to ten mums with kids so please let us know as soon as possible if you want to attend. For more information and to register please visit https://londonmumsmagazine.com/2012/london-mums-playgroup-with-a-twist.

Schools and nurseries are back, so mums can finally hand the baton to the teachers for a big breath in…

So now it’s also time for some well-deserved me-time.
