March is so exciting because it’s not just an important change of season but also because so many things are happening in London. First of all to celebrate International Women’s Day we will attend the annual event hosted by the Mayor of London at City Hall with the theme ‘Women Now and Then: How WWI Transformed Gender Roles’ on 10 March.
Mother’s Day is on 30th March but a few days before on 28th March the new Muppets movie is released into UK cinemas. I know, this seems weird but those of you growing up in the 70s and 80s the Muppets were the best TV shows we had. Every time a new Muppets movie is out I get really happy. Their universal sense of humour speaks at different levels and is brilliant both for kids and adults alike. My son absolutely adores them and we bought the complete Muppets Shows collection (from the 70s and 80s). A movie review will follow closer to the time. Watch this space!
World Book Day is on 6th March this year and we will launch an amazing competition to win all new books released on 3rd March. Check the website tomorrow!!!
On a more serious note, if you are interested in learning everything on how to use social media for a small business I am running a new workshop on 13th March for a small group with focus on how to drive traffic to a website.
I will share all the secrets learnt during my career as a PR professional as well as editor of a magazine in my new all day workshop on 13th March 2014.

Pancake Day is the 4th March this year, i.e. the day preceding Ash Wednesday, and London Mums magazine’s readers have shared their lovely Pancake recipe ideas with us.

I have put together a selection of my favourite Mother’s Day books: some you can read with the kids and some to yourself. These titles are so beautifully illustrated it is a pleasure to flip through the pages with the children in total admiration. I cannot see the Kindle taking over the art of making paper books as yet. Not to talk about some fashion books that are in my top ten of ultimate MUST READ for every woman.
SUGAR-FREE LIFE UPDATE
I have still kept my new year’s resolution of giving up sugar although I gave in to a few sweet treats while in Italy during half term. It was tough there but the exceptions were minimal. My skin is really getting younger (without any special cream), plus I don’t feel tired in the morning and I wake up quite energetic. An expert will write a more technical feature for us and I will share it in the next newsletter. Watch this space!
