I was very excited when Scott Adsit, Voice of Baymax, called me to answer my questions about my favourite superhero of all times. Read my own review of Disney’s Big Hero 6 here and if you haven’t seen it yet, you’ll be happy to know that it will be out on Disney 3D Blu-ray™, Blu-ray™, DVD & Digital HD on 25th May 2015. You can also enter our competition here to win an exclusive Big Hero 6 goody bag including a kite, stickers, key ring, t-shirt and Big Hero 6 DVD! One lucky runner up will win a Big Hero 6 T–shirt!
Q1. How did you prepare to give a voice to such an unusual character like Baymax?
Scott/Baymax: Well I started by looking at the drawings of Baymax when I first came in for the auditions for the role and I saw that he was very soft and huggable and very gentle. So I found the most gentle part of my voice and used that with a kind of slightly robotic rhythm. I didn’t want to sound too much like a robot. I wanted to sound somewhere in between a human and a robot so that he would provide someone he was taking care of with a very friendly manner about him.
Me/Diego: You must have worked hard to sound like Baymax as your real voice is different.
Scott/Baymax: Well, thank you. I am hoping to get more of Baymax in my own personality because he is very friendly and very lovable. I am hoping that Baymax voice will creep into my own eventually.
Q2. Who inspired you the most throughout your career?
Scott/Baymax: My teachers mostly. I had teachers who were very passionate about their subjects, my acting teachers in particular. They provided me with a direction, a path to take as an actor and opened up to me the tools that were already inside me to create a character and stay loyal to that character, and develop each character that I have played over the years into something that I can believe in. And if I believe in something, the audience will too. The greatest inspirations are the people who guided me into the guy I am now.
Q3. What did you learn while voicing Baymax?
Scott/Baymax: I have learnt that you can be a superhero and still be very friendly and a pacifist. You need to fight to be a hero.
The movie provides evidence that being smart and applying the intelligence you have inside you, it is not boring but can be very exciting and fun. Everyone should have fun!
Q4. If Baymax was President of the United States of America what would be his first resolution?
Scott/Baymax: He would make sure that everyone has free healthcare. There’s room for improvement in the current health system (without getting too political). And he would want everyone to hug each other, of course!
Big Hero 6 is an action-packed comedy-adventure about the special bond that develops between Baymax (voice of Scott Adsit), a plus-sized inflatable robot, and prodigy Hiro Hamada (voice of Ryan Potter). When a devastating event befalls the city of San Fransokyo and catapults Hiro into the midst of danger, he turns to Baymax and his close friends adrenaline junkie GoGo Tomago (voice of Jamie Chung), neatnik Wasabi (voice of Damon Wayans Jr.), chemistry whiz Honey Lemon (voice of Genesis Rodriguez) and fanboy Fred (voice of T.J. Miller). Determined to uncover the mystery, Hiro transforms his friends into a band of high-tech heroes called “Big Hero 6.”
Inspired by the Marvel comics of the same name, and featuring breathtaking action with all the heart and humor audiences expect from Walt Disney Animation Studios, “Big Hero 6” is directed by Don Hall (“Winnie the Pooh”) and Chris Williams (“Bolt”), and produced by Roy Conli (“Tangled”).

Here are the film reviews and behind the scene footage for this amazing movie from mums’ and other kids’ reporters.
I am 13 years old and I love being a child reporter for London Mums Magazine. I have done this since I was 8! I am a crazy Lego engineer, I like Fortnite but I am still a big fan of Shaun the Sheep, Wallace & Gromit, all Aardman & Johnny English movies. I also have a passion for airplanes and I would like to become an aircraft engineer one day. Check out my posts here and my videos on the London Mums YouTube channel.
