The British ‘Voice’ Alexander Armstrong Live in Concert Spring 2016

Alexander Armstrong, the actor, comedian and Have I Got News for You’s most frequent guest presenter, is to sing songs from his debut album, A Year of Songs, in some of the most prestigious concert halls across England, Scotland and Wales, including a show at the London Palladium on 22nd January 2o16.

I have my little personal anecdote about Alexander Armstrong. Two years ago I was at the Product of the Year Awards and luckily I won a mini iPad. Guess who was there presenting the Awards and giving away prizes? Drum Drum… yes indeed Alexander Armstrong so I had the pleasure to meet him in person. He is charming, funny and has a super smooth swing voice. I cannot wait to see him live this Friday! I will of course report back on the London Mums You Tube channel.

A classical baritone who won successive choral scholarships including to Trinity College, Cambridge, Armstrong has been singing since joining his school choir in his native Northumberland forty years ago.

Featuring many of Armstrong’s favourite songs such as Summertime, A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square and Londonderry Air, A Year of Songs was released on 6th November 2015 through East West/Warner Music and produced by Grammy Award-winning producer Simon Franglen (Madonna, Michael Jackson, Bee Gees).

Alexander Armstrong rose to fame as one half of comedy duo Armstrong and Miller first on Channel Four and then in a BAFTA-winning version on the BBC. He is a frequent host on Have I Got News for You but is perhaps best known as host of the hugely successful BBC daytime quiz show Pointless. He has acted on television in both straight roles and in sitcoms including Love LifeLife BeginsMutual Friends and Hunderby and has recently become a DJ for Classic FM.

Armstrong said: “To describe myself as excited about this tour would be an almost criminal understatement – it is the realisation of a dream. I’ve spent nearly a lifetime singing and, after such a wonderfully diverse career in acting and comedy, I feel doubly blessed to be able to get out and sing to a wider audience. To perform on these hallowed stages, in front of live audiences, is what it is all about.”
