On 8th March 2016 the Mayor of London’s office will be hosting an International Women’s Day event.
We will be using International Women’s Day to shine a light on some of the women in the UK who have found success in traditionally male-dominated sectors, in order to encourage others to pursue their career ambitions.
We are hoping the day will encourage more girls to study science, engineering and mathematics to ensure that no career path is closed off to them.
The audience will be largely teenage girls that could be looking for career advice from women who work in traditionally male dominated industries. For those that are not interested in the sectors we have covered, the day will no doubt still be empowering and inspirational.
Registration will open at 10am and the event will run from 11.00am- 1.30pm. Lunch will be served and there is no cost to attend.
So far the panel has been confirmed as;
– Helen Grant MP
– Air Vice-Marshal Elaine West RAF – highest ever ranked female in the British Armed forces
– Roma Agrawal – structural engineer that designed The Shard
– A senior representative from the London Fire Brigade
– Dame Jil Matheson- first female UK National Statistician
The event will be held in London’s Living Room – City Hall, London SE1 2AA
Please get in touch with me to register initial interest from your school and students as soon as possible.
