With Summer holidays beckoning, you need to keep children busy and curious outside of school. Stamp collecting is a great hobby to suggest they take up to fill their time. They will find themselves immersed in the wonderful topics of history, geography, sports, animal and plants, space exploration and so many more. Before you know it, they will become engrossed in snippets of knowledge that each stamp carries and perhaps even develop a hobby that lasts a lifetime!
How can you get them started? Encourage them to start a stamp collection by buying them their first stamp book and look for stamp-related events that you can attend together. Stampex International is UK’s largest stamp exhibition and a great show for the whole family, taking place twice a year in London. Plan to attend Autumn Stampex 2018 from 12-15 September, where kids can take part in a range of stamp-themed activities including a live auction organised by Stamp Active. Information can be found at thephilatelictraderssociety.co.uk/stampex/stampex-spring-2018/
Stamp Active promotes stamp collecting for young people in the UK. They offer a starter kit and encourage participation in games, competitions and clubs with people who share the same interests.
To help get them all excited, we’re giving away five Mr. Men & Little Miss Smiler Sheets and five Stamp Active packs to readers. It’s a fantastic way to take their first steps into the magical world of stamps where they can allow their imagination and knowledge to flourish!
