Sometimes, getting kids to eat three healthy, nutritious meals every day can feel like mission impossible. When you’re pushed for time (and what mum isn’t?), it can be especially tricky to whip up balanced dishes – particularly when they have to be lunchbox-shaped and your little one is refusing to eat anything except chocolate biscuits.
It’s no longer rude to play with your food – Say hello to your tasty new school lunchbox saviour!
There may, however, be a solution to your packed lunch dilemmas. Kallo – makers of delicious rice cakes, corn cakes and organic stock cubes – have just launched Kallo Kids; individual portion packs (in boxes of five), each containing two wholegrain rice cake thins, topped with either milk chocolate or a layer of strawberry yoghurt.
Kallo is giving away three hampers of their goodies to three lucky London Mums readers. The boxes will contain:
- Kids milk chocolate rice cake thins
- Kids strawberry yoghurt rice cake thins
- Lightly salted rice cakes
- Organic unsalted rice cakes
- Organic lightly salted rice cakes
- Organic sesame seed rice cakes
- Corn cakes
- Sea salt & balsamic rice & corn cakes
- Blueberry & vanilla rice & corn cakes
- Belgian milk chocolate rice cake thins x2
- Belgian dark chocolate rice cake thins x2
- Organic garlic & herb stock cubes
- Organic tomato & herb stock cubes
- Organic chicken stock cubes
- Organic vegetable stock cubes
To be in with a chance of winning, simply answer this question ‘What is your child’s favourite snack?’ in our competition box below this post. The deadline to enter is 4th September 2014.
The beauty of these portion packs is that they’re just the right size for lunchboxes and after-school snacks. They’re also brilliant when you’re in need of portable, easy-to-eat nibbles to keep the kids going between meals, and they’re perfect for piling high with scrumptious fresh fruit. They’re also vegetarian, coeliac-friendly, gluten-free and completely free from artificial nasties – huzzah!
The packs feature wonderfully quirky poems that are great fun to read aloud together, as well as cut-out-and-make games, jokes, and healthy recipe ideas that kids can make themselves. Why not encourage your little Picassos to get creative and make fruity faces on their rice cakes with sliced fruit and berries? Or keep them busy making their own teepee and totem poles with Milk Chocolate Rice Cake packs, or cut-out-and-keep flamingos, designed to sit daintily atop their Strawberry Rice Cake Thins?
Kallo’s Chocolate Thins contain 121 calories per portion pack, and the Strawberry Thins contain 126, so they’re just right for a healthy treat as part of a packed lunch, or for an energy boost after a long day at school. And by encouraging kids to ‘play’ with their food, piling on healthy toppings and creating delicious designs, they could soon be gobbling down plenty of healthy fresh fruit without a fuss. Genius!
