Book of the week: Under the Light of the Italian Moon by Jennifer Anton

Mar 16 2021

Literature is a wonderful ‘device’ to immerse ourselves into worlds that would not be possible to explore. Thanks to new historical fiction novel, based on real events, Under the Light of the Italian Moon by Jennifer Anton, published 8th March 2021 (International Women’s Day) I could go back in time to watch the lives of generations of strong Italian women unfold.  Their stories and the constant references to beautiful parts of Italy have made me long for a trip to my country more than ever before during the pandemic. This novel, in fact, provides the perfect escapism from dreary lockdown life. The detail of Nina’s life in Italy is done very well and reminds me of my own grandmother’s stories – drawing in the picturesque scenery of mountain views and describing the delicious Italian foods, from homemade tiramisu’, biscottis to polenta stew.

Future Films Heads Up: In the Heights out this Summer 2021

Mar 16 2021

A new trailer has been launched today for the movie adaptation of Lin-Manuel Miranda‘s Broadway musical In the Heights. In The Heights will be released nationwide by Warner Bros. Pictures on 25th June 2021. Judging from a first look, it looks really good but frankly I am not surprised considering Lin Manuel Miranda is behind this. His musical talent combined with his writing skills won’t disappoint fans of his musical hit Hamilton. I am personally very excited about this movie and, as it will be released at the end of lockdown and hopefully the end of the pandemic, we will all need a film like In the Heights to lift our spirits.
