Met Film School Summer Camps and Courses for Teens

For parents with teenagers, the summer holidays can quickly turn into an arduous challenge revolving around getting said teenager out of bed before noon and making sure they do their washing!  But the months of July and August needn’t be time wasted.  14-17 year olds with an interest in film can enjoy a couple of weeks learning their craft amongst peers and industry leaders at The Met Film School summer camps.

Easter Sunday is about more than Easter eggs but if your children are like mine, they have very little interest in anything else! To introduce them to the idea that Easter Sunday is a day of ancient celebration and feasting, why not create something special to decorate the Easter Table? I like to have all my old favourites on display that day and napkin rings made of felt are a pretty addition to a place setting. They are easy to make and easy to personalise – use any scraps of lace, ribbon or buttons that you have stashed away for instant personality and vintage appeal.

Spring Cleaning with Shaun the Sheep at Mudchute Farm

Mudchute Park & Farm is London’s Best Kept Secret. And not many people know that it is the farm that inspired Aardman’s genius animation series Shaun the Sheep. We spent half day at Mudchute and had a private tour with a charming tour guide who told us all about the animals in their care. The kids loved touching and playing with the animals and finding all about one of the largest city farms in London (32 acres of countryside in the middle of the Isle of Dogs, South East London). Mudchute is free and open most of the year but as a charity it needs donations to keep surviving. Kids can experience close encounters with friendly fur and feathered creatures and book special events for a small (but important) fee.
