Young Family Panto: Dear Santa Live at Riverside Studios

Dec 08 2020

Last weekend I went to the Riverside Studios in Hammersmith to watch Dear Santa Live, a Christmas Panto aimed at young families, with two lovely school girls who had a great time.  After months of lockdown, we have all been craving the return of live performance and were happy to get out to the theatre. Dear Santa Live is a great way to be part of a live audience (safely) after a year spent in isolation.

Dear Santa Live is the first production of the Riverside Studios 2020 Christmas season. Norwell Lapley Productions’ stage adaptation of Rod Campbell’s family-favourite and much-loved picture book. Dear Santa Live, directed by Tim Wallers runs until 24 December 2020. At the end of the show, children can say hallo to Santa (at a socially distanced grotto appearance) and receive a Christmas themed gift bag.

The season at Riverside Studios includes a dazzling array of live cabaret, comedy, music and theatre that run throughout December.

Tate Britain exhibition review: Turner’s Modern World 28 October 2020 – 7 March 2021

Oct 28 2020

A new landmark exhibition dedicated to JMW Turner (1775-1851) at Tate Britain called Turner’s Modern World explores what it meant to be a modern artist during his lifetime. Personally I believe that Turner is one of the most innovative artists of all time, ahead of his time and crucial to the inspiration of Impressionists and other artistic movements that started a century after he created some of his most famous artwork. Turner’s Modern World is absolutely unmissable for anybody including children of all ages.

British Museum exhibition review: Tantra enlightenment to revolution 24 Sep 2020 – 24 Jan 2021

Oct 12 2020

The British Museum has reopened with a very interesting exhibition about Tantra. If you are looking for insights into Sting and Tom Hanks’ favourite love practice you’ll be disappointed because this is more a showcase of the ancient philosophy behind the contemporary practical spin. This exhibition will be suitable also for secondary school students who are learning the history of philosophy. It is also about sex, just so you are aware before sending children to this show.
