With Kate Middleton recently giving birth to another royal baby, buzz around the name of the future little one created a whirlwind in the media-even the bookies had bets on the proposed name! Here’s a devised list of what we think are the top 10 most unusual celebrity baby names to see what the fuss is all about.
Naming your baby can be one of the toughest things about motherhood; let’s not forget it’s with them for life! So if you’ve got a newborn on the way and are struggling with names why not take some inspiration from these celebs…
10. River Rose
At number 10 of our list is the daughter of pop star Kelly Clarkson and her husband Brandon Blackstock. They decided of the name River Rose for their daughter after giving birth to her in June 2014.
9. Summer Rain
Another female pop star’s baby on our list is American beauty Christina Aguilera and her fiancé’s daughter Summer Rain. We’re guessing since her little angel was born in the summer, the name seems fitting-not sure about the ‘rain’ part though Christina?
8. Apple
At number 8 is Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow’s daughter Apple. In an interview with Oprah, Gwyneth explained it was Chris who thought of the name and she simply agreed. She said the name apple “sounded sweet, and it conjures such a lovely picture for me, you know apples are so sweet and they’re wholesome.” Well done Chris, we think it’s cute!
7. Harper Seven
It only seemed right to have this little cutie at the number 7 spot on our list. Harper Seven is the daughter of David and Victoria Beckham, and has said the ‘Seven’ part denotes Beckham’s football shirt number when he played for England and Manchester United.
6. Huckleberry
This unique name belonging to the son of famous British adventurer Bear Grylls and his wife managed to get a spot at number 6. Since Bear isn’t the most common name, it was no surprise to us naming his son something out of the ordinary. Bear also has another two sons called Jesse and Marmaduke- I guess he loves originality!
5. Petal Blossom Rainbow
At number 5 is Famous TV chef Jamie Oliver’s daughter Petal Blossom Rainbow. Jamie recently said in an interview that his wife Jooles is in charge of the baby names. They also share another 2 daughters together called Poppy Honey Rosie and Daisy Boo Pamela as well a son named Buddy Bear Maurice. Well Jooles, 10/10 for imagination!
4. Blue Ivy
There’s no surprise Blue Ivy made our list as the world came to a standstill when Beyoncé and Jay-Z revealed her name. The singer hinted at the meaning of Blue Ivy by posting a passage from Rebecca Solnit’s 2005 novel, A Field Guide to Getting Lost. The extract focuses on the importance of the colour blue and ends with ‘the light that gets lost, gives us the beauty of the world, so much of which is in the colour blue.’
3. Kal-el
At number 3 is the son of American actor Nicolas Cage. As Nicolas is a huge superhero comic book fan, he decided to name his little one after Superman’s birth name, Kal-el. That’s dedication right there!
2. Fifi Trixibelle
The daughter of Bob Geldof and Paula Yates, Fifi Trixibelle, almost made our top spot with this fairy-like name. In keeping with family tradition, she was called Fifi after Bob’s aunt’s name and Trixibelle because Paula wanted a belle in the family. It may be unusual but we love it, so cute!
1. North West
It’s no surprise the daughter of Kim Kardashain and Kayne West made number 1 as the unveiling her of name was a hot topic for some time! Kris Jenner Kim’s mum explained how Kim wanted the name North as ‘North means the highest power and she said that North is their highest point together.’ We know it’s common for celebrities to name their baby after geographical places, but North West, seriously Kim? The poor girl is a compass!
Unique baby names are becoming increasingly popular and it’s no surprise, as you want your little one to stand out.
