Heads Up! Future Films: Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes

The apes are on their way back!  Part two of the latest Planet Of The Apes franchise opens next month and shows every sign of being the best of the lot.

A packed screening room of journalists – including Yours Truly! – recently had a sneak preview of some footage from the forthcoming Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes.  Even better, it was hosted by the master of motion capture acting, Andy Serkis, who reprises his role of Caesar in the film.

Heads Up! Future Films: Earth To Echo

This year’s summer holiday line-up gets under way with a decidedly sci-fi theme.  Earth To Echo opens on 25th July,  telling the story of three friends whose mobile phones are infected by cryptic signals.  Convinced that something big is going on they go in search of the sender.  Check out the trailer to see what they find!

Film review: T S Spivet

If yet another film in 3-D makes you positively groan at the thought of those clunky glasses slipping down your nose, then here’s some great news.  Not about the glasses, sadly, but at long last there’s a film that makes putting up with them more than worthwhile.

T S Spivet was released on Friday, 13 June 2014.  Not that it’s an omen.  Far from it.  This is the captivating story of T S (Kyle Catlett), who lives on remote Montana ranch with his older sister, twin brother, scientist mother (Helena Bonham Carter) and strong but silent cowboy father (Callum Keith Rennie).

The other side of the Sleeping Beauty story hits the big screen at the end of the month with the arrival of Disney’s much-anticipated Maleficent.

Angelina Jolie, complete with to-die-for cheekbones, brings animation’s most iconic villain to life.  And, as she reveals in this special feature, it was a character she was especially keen to play.
