Noticed Paddington Bears springing up around London over the past few weeks?  Over fifty of them are there until the end of December and for a reason.  Firstly, they’re a fund raiser for the NSPCC and, in their various guises – a coat decorated with oranges and a space suit are just two – they also herald the cinematic arrival of the nation’s favourite bear from Darkest Peru.  Paddington.

Film review (an adult’s perspective): Get Santa

Before I take a look at Get Santa, a warm welcome to Chiara, my fellow film partner in crime.  I hope you enjoyed her review of the film and that mine lives up to her standard.

It has to be said that this year’s seasonal films didn’t get off to the best of starts with Nativity 3 – and that’s the last time I’m going to mention that particular travesty.  So, is Get Santa any better?

Future Films Heads Up: Minions

Here’s one trailer that simply couldn’t wait! Minions doesn’t hit the UK until June of next year, but this first look at the world according to the adorable little yellow creatures from Despicable Me is an absolute must-see.

There’s no Gru this time, so the babbling critters get all the limelight. And if the movie turns out to be as funny as the trailer, we’re in for a treat next summer!

Film review: The Hunger Games – Mockingjay Part 1

The wait is over!  Since last year’s The Hunger Games:Catching Fire, we’ve all been waiting for the next instalment of this globally successful franchise.  And now it’s here – The Hunger Games:Mockingjay Part 1 opens this Thursday.  Has it been worth the wait – or is it just setting us up for Mockingjay Part 2?

The answer is a resounding “yes” – to both questions!

Film review: Nativity 3 – Dude, Where’s My Donkey?!

Sequels have a chequered history. With a few notable exceptions (The Godfather 2, Toy Story 2, Despicable Me 2), they usually fall well short of the original.  And, by the time number three comes along, any resemblance to number one is likely to be purely coincidental.

You wonder why they make them – and you’ll certainly wonder that about Nativity 3: Dude, Where’s My Donkey?! Yet it arrives on the big screen on this Friday, 14 November.

You have been warned!
