New attraction review: Gripped at Hobbledown

On Saturday 30th of July London Mums Magazine was invited to Hobbledown and this is how our day went:

New aerial adventure park Gripped that has just opened off the Stains Road in Hounslow is a unique gem. No garish, scary rides but lots of complex, adventure play for all age groups. There are also two big features for adults and teenagers. A net park and zip/high wire/rope trail.

The adventure play areas are beautifully constructed with natural materials. There are ‘puzzle’ tunnels which have to be found in order to access some of the slides. The children loved the challenge. The high net park has 45 minute slots. They use up huge amounts of energy and the children of all ages came down exhausted!

The high ropes and zip wire trail enthralled the teenagers and petrified the adults in our group but all had a huge rush of adrenaline and returned exhilarated !The staff were wonderful, all were patient, encouraging and vigilant. This applied to the entire staff group,  from those directing at the car park to those dressed as characters form the  story which relates to Hobbledown Heath. The staff have been well trained and have very good communication skills. They were welcoming and approachable.

There are animals to be seen and displays including birds of prey being ‘flown’.

Other things to do on the site include a golf driving range and what looked like a dinosaur themed mini golf.

The available food was limited but there were lots of picnic areas. Members of the public need to remember to put their rubbish in bins and not drop their empty drinks containers in play areas.

While this is not a cheap day out it is certainly value for money and perhaps the organisers might consider a scheme whereby those who can afford these wonderful opportunities for their families could donate all or part of tickets for children who would benefit from this magical experience.

Vouchers are available to purchase here now. Prices start from £10.

Escapade Group was set up by Richard Farley and Nick de Candole who have been childhood friends since the age of 15. Both big kids at heart, they created the business in response to the absence of good quality, stimulating out of home children’s entertainment.

Initially comprising of two indoor activity centres in Croydon and Romford, known as Kidspace Adventures, a third outdoor adventure farm park was opened in 2012 in Epsom, Surrey, called Hobbledown.

On 11th July 2022 a second Hobbledown site opened in Hounslow, West London. The introduction of Hobbledown Heath will be one of London’s biggest indoor and outdoor adventure play parks, built in the guise of three villages set in beautiful woodland with a wide variety of farm and zoo animals as a backdrop.

The new aerial adventure park Gripped is part of the largest leisure development in London since the Olympics, which in total spans 126 acres. The adrenaline fuelled aerial attraction will be one of the first of its kind in the UK and a totally new offering to London.

Gripped is home to a wide variety of aerial activities and adventures.
