Restaurant review: Banana Tree at the O2 Arena

If you’re on the hunt for some tasty Pan-Asian fusion flavours without breaking the bank, Banana Tree at O2 ARENA located in Ravensbourne University London might just be your ticket. With a menu boasting dishes from Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam, and Malaysia, there’s something to tantalise every taste bud – and with more than 40% of the menu being plant-based, it’s a haven for veggie lovers too.

Let’s start with the good stuff. The food here is top-notch. My two friends, Donatella and Francesca, and I had to kill two hours before the Depeche Mode gig, getting all warmed up for a concert we had been waiting for a long time. So, we got off to a good start with 2 for 1 on all drinks – forever happy hour, mind you. We couldn’t resist indulging in some pina coladas, both as cocktails and mocktails. The cocktails weren’t too strong, and the mocktails were superb – the perfect accompaniment to our meal.

We then tucked into pad Thai with both chicken and prawns, a green Thai curry, a red curry dish, and rounded off our meal with a delectable coconut green pancake. Each dish hit the spot, with great quality ingredients and flavours that transported us straight to the bustling streets of Southeast Asia.

And let’s not forget about the service. Our waitress was an absolute gem. She made us feel right at home, and our food arrived promptly without any fuss. Exceptional service can truly make or break a dining experience, and she certainly went above and beyond to ensure we had a pleasant meal.

I don’t normally eat dessert after a pad Thai, but I was tempted by a green-looking pancake filled with caramelised coconut, which was truly delicious. The green colour put me off, but as soon as I dug in, I could not stop eating it despite being already full. I have never had such a yummy dessert, not too sweet. Just perfect. I would go back there just for that.

Overall Impression:

Our experience at Banana Tree was a positive one. The food was delicious, the drinks were delightful, and the service was top-notch. If you’re in the mood for some budget-friendly Pan-Asian fare with a side of friendly service, Banana Tree at O2 Arena is definitely worth a visit. Whether you’re grabbing a bite before a concert or simply craving some exotic flavours, this place has got you covered.

You won’t be disappointed.
