Every year at the end of November we expect Covent Garden to dress up for Christmas. Today once again the magic has been brought back to the Piazza by the annual LEGO Christmas installation. The man behind this magic is Duncan Titmarsh, the UK’s only LEGO Certified Professional, who has been creating impressive LEGO installations for years.
I have met him a few times over the years and he has inspired my son Diego who loves construction toys and makes his own designs just like Duncan did as a young boy.
Duncan’s latest installation in the most iconic London Piazza is made with over 700,000 LEGO bricks and represents Santa’s Workshop with Elves busy building Christmas and LEGO tools at the ready. Santa is keeping a watchful eye over the elves and is busy filling the sack with LEGO Christmas presents.
The elves are being kept warm while they work with a roaring fire, the countdown to Christmas is on and there is still a lot of work to be done.
Children (and adults alike) can join the elves on the ‘production line’ and take a selfie, or should we say ‘elfie’.
This year the installation becomes interactive when people download the free Blippar app, point their phone at the LEGO poster and scan. Santa’s Sleigh comes to life in front of their eyes and drop three presents. By simply clicking on each of the three presents children can enjoy a different LEGO experience:
1) Instructions on how to build a LEGO Christmas decoration,
2) Instructions on how to decorate your own LEGO selfie,
3) A competition to win sets of LEGO.
Santa’s Workshop will be in the Covent Garden Piazza from 29th November through to 29th December 2016.

Here I am with Duncan at the new Lego Store in Leicester Square. He loved our coverage of his Tower Bridge installation at Land Rover where I interviewed Bear Grylls for the latest London Mums magazine.
