London Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival 2015 will be held on Sunday 28th June at the London Regatta Centre. In celebration of the 20th annual event, the organisers are looking for a broad spectrum of entrants to take part in what promises to be a landmark year for Europe’s most prestigious dragon boat event.
The festival provides an excellent opportunity to experience Chinese culture. Organised by London Chinatown Lions Club with support from The Hong Kong Executives Club, The London Chinatown Chinese Community Centre and the Hong Kong Economic & Trade Office, the free, family-friendly event is now a significant date in London’s cultural calendar, attracting visitors from across the UK and overseas.
In addition to being one of the capital’s must-do summer events, the dragon boat racing promises to be as spectacular as ever this year with 40 club, corporate and amateur teams battling it out for 4 cups and top honours. Everyone is encouraged to participate – seasoned rowers to beginners alike.
The event also features a food festival offering the tastes of South East Asia, live music on the East West Festival stage showcasing new artists from the East and West, martial arts displays and traditional Chinese lion dancing.
London Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival is organised as a fund-raiser with proceeds donated to nominated charities supported by London Chinatown Lions Club. There is also a raffle draw (tickets can be reserved in advance from www.dragonboatfestival.co.uk) with fantastic prizes including a pair of return flights to Hong Kong courtesy of Cathay Pacific and dinner for two at Hutong at The Shard.
