School has ended, and while your little’uns couldn’t be happier about this, you’re wondering how you’re going to entertain them for the next few weeks. Thankfully, there are a lot of ways to entertain kids in London and tire them out over the summer holidays so there won’t be any tears or tantrums!

 

Here are the best days out for entertaining the kids this summer in London:

1. Natural History Museum – Nothing is more exciting than exploring the Natural History Museum! One of the most beautiful landmark buildings in London, this distinctive building is home to hundreds of exciting exhibits including the Dinosaurs gallery where you can meet a real life T-Rex, the Mammal gallery which has a life size blue whale and the Central Hall, home to the famous Diplodocus skeleton. Take a look at the laboratories where the scientists work and marvel at the different species on display. This museum will make sure your kids are entertained for hours!
2. Science Museum – The Science Museum is the most visited science and technology museum in Europe! And there is good reason for this, with over 15,000 objects on display, the museum is home to objects such as the Apollo 10 command capsule and other world-famous objects. The kids will love the interactive galleries, experiencing what it’s like to fly with the Red Arrows and blasting off into space with an Apollo space mission through use of the amazing 3D and 4D simulators. 
3. One Direction’s London – Whether your little’uns are Directioners or you yourself are a secret fan of the world’s biggest boy band, experience London through the eyes of One Direction. Take a selfie with the band at Madame Tussauds – the 1D boys proved so popular that Madame Tussauds created new wax figures for fans to pose next to. Follow in their footsteps with an open top bus tour like the lads did in the video for One Thing, followed by a speedboat trip down the River Thames, past the Houses of Parliament and the London eye, like they did in the video for Midnight Madness.
4. Battersea Park and Children’s Zoo – Let them pretend to be the next David Attenborough at the Battersea Park and Children’s Zoo. Filled with monkeys, snakes, donkeys, lemurs, emus, wallabies and rabbits, this zoo allows kids to feed the animals and run around the adventure playgrounds (which feature a real tractor and life-sized fire engine). Kids can spy on the meerkats in the secret lookout tunnel, spend some time with Bianca the miniature Shetland pony and chat to the parrots!
5. Hackney City Farm – Head East and visit Hackney City Farm. This farm is filled with sheep, pigs, chickens, ducks, rabbits, calves and even bees! The farm is a community and educational resource and it totally free to visit. Running educational projects, exhibitions, craft courses and farm trials, the Hackney City Farm will teach your kids about the different animals available to feed and pet and will let them think they are deep in the country.
